Hello, I'm JY Mak (they/she).
As a self-taught photographer, I first picked up the camera as a way to document and share moments that moved me, especially with my elderly parents, who live 6k miles away with limited mobility.
With a background in psychology, I operate at the intersection of behavioural science, design, and technology, as an enabler for responsible innovation, health and healing justice.
As a community organiser and facilitator, I co-produce events to facilitate QTPOC folks in connecting and supporting each other. I'm also building knowledge bases to better aid ongoing community development, and to empower ongoing contributions.
For my current creative practice, I prioritise commissions that involve documenting QTPOC or ESEA-centred community organising, activism and celebrations.
